The Chapter 234 Scholarship fund was established to help students in the aviation program at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan. Students may apply who are getting their private ticket or who wish to upgrade their skills and may have goals in general, military or professional aviation. Applicants are screened by the College, must be United States citizens and, in addition to their application, after winning the scholarship they must write a letter explaining their goals to the Chapter.

A scholarship for the fall '03 term has been awarded to Peter Bottenhorn. He was born in Suttons Bay, got hooked on flying at the Northport fly-in at the age of six. currently lives in Grandville, MI. Has finished his commercial and is starting on his Instr. Instruct. Hopes to become an airline pilot.

A scholarship for the spring '04 term has also been awarded to Steven Sutter of Utica, MI. Although he is new to NMC and is working on his private pilot certificate, he got hooked on flying at an early age. He took his first flight in a 152 at age 12 and will ever more be looking skyward. A flight with his uncle in a Lear jet at age 18 convinced him he wanted to be a corporate pilot.
