The Chapter
was formed by a small group at Acme Skyport in 1965 with the primary
interest in promoting aviation safety, education and fellowship. Over
the years the mix of Chapter members has changed and currently there
are more active builders than in other years. There is a mix of activities
by the Chapter. Usually a couple breakfast fly-ins are hosted at Torchport
Airport. The Chapter has also hosted Young Eagle events at NMC Aviation
Department ramp. Of course, there is the annual Christmas party with
all the coveted awards. A Bob Witkop has formed a notorious group of
Saturday morning flyers that post a regular year round schedule of places
to meet for breakfast. Appropriately named Bob’s Breakfast Bunch.
September is usually the annual picnic drive-in/fly-in with 'significant
others'.
The Chapter always welcomes visitors at our meeting and social activities
and hope the they will consider joining our Chapter.
